- 1. BCMIT continues in support of legislation for open competition in infrastructure – attention is focused on MI and OH at the moment. Very happy to have had John Serrano give excellent testimony in the Ohio Statehouse last week. He did a great job.
- 2. As a reminder, open competition legislation is designed to eliminate pre-bid material restrictions in drinking water, storm water, and waste water projects using state funds. David Mann at ACC is a key point of contact. If you haven’t yet engaged on this issue and are interested in helping open up the market for vinyl please let me know or reach out to David directly at 202-680-0459 or david_mann@americanchemistry.com. Having the value chain in support can make a big difference.
- 3. Continue to engage in building code advocacy. We had a few successes stopping efforts to weaken energy codes in WV, IA, MD, WA. Plenty of challenges still ahead for the year in Florida (SB7000), Maine (LD1392), Minnesota, and regulatory updates around the country.
- 4. All the trades should remain plugged in with folks like RECA and the Energy Efficient Codes Coalition to make sure they support the adoption and enforcement of the building codes.
